NH464 ‘Portland Bill Lighthouse (small)’ 12 x 12 inches    30.5 x 30.5 cm    Acrylic on Canvas    2015
Divided by an oblique vertical into exact halves, this is another painting that concentrates  attention on lines, shapes and colour patterns, rhythms and balances in order to create a  structured colour/shape composition. The subject-matter provides a contrast between a world  of human construction on one side and the natural world on the other. At the same time the  tension between non-figurative pictorial surface and illusionist pictorial depth is at play.
